Buried Country - Sydney New Year's Eve 23/24

Sydney New Year’s Eve 9PM Calling to Country

As part of Sydney’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, VANDAL collaborated with R/GA Australia and Social Indigenous Enterprise ‘We Are Warriors’ to spotlight First Nations culture through the 9pm Calling to Country. The concept, led by Noongar artist and Triple J host Nooky, explored Indigenous resilience under the theme ‘Buried Country,’ featuring illustrations of iconic Indigenous figures by Janelle Burger. VANDAL brought these stories to life through stunning pylon projections, seamlessly synchronized with fireworks over Sydney Harbour, taking audiences on a visual journey that emphasized the enduring presence of First Nations culture, even in urban landscapes. As Senior Motion Designer at VANDAL, I was proud to play a part in elevating these powerful Indigenous stories through a digital experience.
